Economic Development
Economic Development is crucial to the sustainability and health of our community and region. The bottom line of economic development today is about building prosperity, including a high and rising standard of living. The focus of economic development is on supporting innovation, increasing prosperity for citizens and businesses alike, and ensuring that there is an environment that fosters continued growth. The City of Macon has chosen two projects that fit in perfectly with this concept: The Downtown Corridor Redevelopment and the Centreplex. Likewise, the County has chosen projects that help draw and keep jobs and businesses in Bibb County: Land Acquisition for Economic Development and Land Acquisition for BRAC.
Economic Development has 4 Focus Areas with a combined 21 projects. 10 of these projects are labeled in progress and 4 are complete.
