Human Resources

Bibb County accepts applications for all posted positions without regard to gender, race, age, ethnicity or disability.

Applications are available on line for most of the open positions (Application for Employment). All questions on the application must be completed. If a question is not applicable to you, put “N/A.” “See Resume” is not accepted. Information must be entered on the application form.

Please Note: Applications for Deputy Sheriff, Correction Officer, or Bailiff must be obtained in person at the Bibb County Government Human Resources Department between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Applications, resumes, and/or cover letter must reflect the candidates’ ability to meet the minimum qualifications for the posted position. If minimum qualifications of the posted position are not reflected, the application will not be processed.

All interviews are arranged by Human Resources.

Every applicant who is considered for employment will be checked for the following:

  • Motor Vehicle Record (last seven years)
  • Criminal Background Check
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or permit to work in the U.S.
  • Reference checks from previous employers
  • School records

Applicants whose results for these checks are not satisfactory will not be considered further for employment.

If applicants are requested by Human Resources to furnish information to support their application, they must return the information – or evidence that information has been requested – within two weeks of the request. If the information is not received in this period of time, and there is no contact with Human Resources from the applicant about the information, Human Resources will consider the applicant to have withdrawn from consideration for the position applied for. The application will not be processed further.

Applicants may be given pre-employment assessments (tests) to verify skills that are required for the posted position for which they are applying. Examples: Typing, Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products, etc.

Only when all information and testing results are completed will applicants be scheduled for an interview with a manager or supervisor in the department for which the position is posted. If the applicant is recommended for hire, or selected from a number of applicants for hire, an offer of employment will be made, contingent on successful physical exam and drug screening.

New employees report to Human Resources on their first day of employment to complete paperwork and to attend the Bibb County Government Orientation Program. After these are complete, Human Resources will notify the hiring department that the new employee is ready to go to the department.

** Important** Human Resources will require you to bring documents which support your eligibility to work in the U.S. A birth certificate, driver’s license or other picture ID, passport, green card, etc. may be used for the verification. If these documents are not furnished within three (3) days of hire, the new employee will not be allowed to work until such documents are provided to Human Resources.
