Created by the Bibb County Board of Commissioners in 2005, the purpose of
the Grants Department is to collaborate among County departments and court operations in identifying opportunities
for grant support that augment valuable, competent, and accountable government operations. The Grants
Department is a fundamental resource regarding public and private grant sources. The Grants Department
is responsible for administering grant programs and awards, collaborating with community agencies and
serving as a resource for the community-at-large regarding available programs. In addition, the Grants
Department works in partnership with the Bibb County Finance Department in monitoring federal, state and
local compliance and in preparing related reports for public and private audit.
The Grants Resources Administrator meets frequently with Department Heads in order to assess those county needs that can be addressed through grant funding. Other responsibilities include researching funding that is available to enhance governmental services for residents in Macon, Bibb County, serving as the primary point of contact with granting agencies, developing and implementing procedures for evaluating the effectiveness of each grant program in terms of its added benefit and working in partnership whose primary goal is to benefit the community-at-large.
