The Bibb County Buildings and Properties Department is charged with providing safe and efficient facilities for use by the employees and the public.
The Buildings and Properties Department has the responsibility for maintaining, improving and expanding all facilities owned and occupied by the Bibb County Government. This department has the responsibility to promote and provide the highest utilization of monies set aside for operation during the fiscal year. The following locations are some of the facilities the department maintains:
- Courthouse, Annex, Grand Building, William P. Randall Government Center, D.F.A.C.S. Building, County Engineering Office, Engineering Annex, Engineering Road Department Shop, Traffic Engineering Building, Board of Elections, County Extension Office, River Edge Recovery Center, River Edge Behavioral Health Center, Macon/Bibb County Health Department, 8 County Fire Stations, Tag Office at the Farmers Market, the Regional Commission, DHR Field Offices and County Records Storage.
The Administrative Function serves to govern and manage all functions (HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, General Maintenance and Custodial) of the Building and Properties Department. The Administration Function provides financial budgets, contract negotiation, contract oversight, construction cost estimates, project management, service request dispatch, record keeping, inventory controls, and energy management.
The HVAC Function is responsible for the installation, repair and maintenance of all heating and cooling systems in facilities owned and operated by Bibb County. The systems maintained include:
All types of boiler systems, all types of chilled water systems, all types and sizes of DX units, all types of control systems, Cooling towers, energy recovery units, enthalpy wheels, fire sprinkler systems and all types of Building Automation Systems.
The Plumbing Function is responsible for the installation, repair and maintenance of all plumbing systems in facilities owned and operated by Bibb County. The systems maintained include:
All types of pipes, fittings, drains and valves; regulates water pressures; maintains water heaters and water coolers; maintains restroom facilities, showers, sprinkler systems; maintains pump stations and irrigation systems; maintains backflow prevention program.
The Electrical Function is responsible for the installation, repair and maintenance of all electrical systems in all facilities owned and operated by Bibb County. The systems maintained include: New electrical systems, switch gear, panels, temporary services, wiring, coaxial cabling, CAT5 cabling, switches, receptacles, light fixtures, breaker panels, fire alarms, door/security alarms, panic alarms, CCTV and analyze all electrical malfunctions.
General Maintenance Function
The General Maintenance Function is responsible for the repairs and renovations to all facilities owned and operated by Bibb County. The Maintenance functions include:
Repair or replace walls, floors, floor coverings, roofs, windows, doors, awnings, steps, ramps, railings, benches, locks, hasps, hinges, door closures, book cases, cabinets, shelving, furniture, and paint; responsible for all framing of resolutions, documents, and certificates.
The Custodial Function performs repetitive cleaning work in the buildings, offices, and yard areas. The Custodial Function includes sweep and mop floors; receive freight and parcel post; dust woodwork, furniture and other objects; collect recyclable paper and rubbish; varnish, shellac, and polish floors, furniture and brass; run errands, deliver packages and messages; and set up rooms for conferences and meetings.
